8 funny rejection letter templates
Some claims deserve more than a "no". They deserve a formal letter, a case number and a stamp. Here are 8 official rejection letters from the Department of Doubt, ready to copy, edit and send to the people who will laugh the hardest.
Change the parts in [brackets], keep the serious tone, and add a stamp from Stamp Anything to make it official. Every letter rejects a claim or a habit, never a person.
How a good fake rejection letter works
- Quote the claim exactly. "Will only take five minutes" is funnier in quotation marks.
- Bring evidence. A made-up number of previous offences makes the ruling feel researched.
- Use the formal voice. "We regret to inform you" about a stapler is the whole joke.
- Give a way to appeal. A tiny condition ("resubmit when the agenda fits on one line") keeps it friendly.
- Sign it properly. A department name and a stamp finish the job.

When not to send one
A funny letter is for shared jokes. It is the wrong tool for turning down a real job application, a customer, a date or a serious request, and it should never be about someone's appearance, health or work. For those moments, here are polite ways to say no that are kind and clear.
Questions about funny rejection letters
Can I copy and edit these letters?
Yes. Copy any template, change the bracketed parts and send it. Keep it a joke between people who will laugh, about a habit or a claim, not about someone's looks, health or job.
Is a funny rejection letter okay to send at work?
For a light, shared joke, such as rejecting the claim that a meeting will be short, most teams enjoy it. Do not use one to turn down a real request from a colleague, a candidate or a customer; those deserve a real, kind answer.
How do I make it look official?
Add a case number, a date, a department name and a stamp. You can make the stamp in Stamp Anything, download the PNG and paste it under the letter.
What makes a rejection letter funny?
Treating something tiny with enormous seriousness. A formal tone, a case number and a polite "we regret to inform you" about the last slice of pizza does most of the work.
Satire. The Department of Doubt is not a real department, and these letters have no authority whatsoever. See the satire notice. Today's real ruling is on the home page.
